Since January 2017 I had been pondering, “What am I supposed to do with my life?” The answer came at 4:30 a.m. on July 25, 2017, as the reassuring voice of God whispered to me, “Do the cakes first!”.

Without hesitation, I founded Silver Spoon Desserts in August 2017. I rallied support, prepared my business plan, and started baking! I exquisitely packaged my products and giant doors began to open. I presented samples to major food service companies, airlines, restaurants, and professional sports teams.

I knew I was on to something good when I entered the Invest Aurora and Women’s Business Center Entrepreneurial Business Plan Pitch Competition and won the first prize of $2,500. Terrie Simmons has been so wonderful in her support and mentor-ship of my journey. Winning the prize boosted my confidence and set me on a blazing path of success.

I officially launched Silver Spoon Desserts at the Music Entrepreneurship Conference at Harvard University in April 2018. I am featured in an article of Forbes Magazine July 2018, and currently in conversations with major airlines, global food service groups, restaurant chains, hotels, and casinos.

In May 2018, I entered another business plan pitch competition with Odyssey Media. I am glad to say that I was the winner for the F&B category, sponsored by Coca-Cola. A cash prize of $25,000.00. As of July 20, 2018, I am officially a certified WBE.

Our mission is to transform, enrich, and empower the lives of women -especially single mothers. We are transforming the “silver spoon” from a symbol of privilege to a symbol of inspiration, prosperity and freedom for all!
